‘Alien’ by Aoki Takamasa + Tujiko Noriko. Resurrected this duo from my hard drive. Listening to this again is getting me really excited for Tokyo. The sound quality isn’t great but you get the idea…
‘Higher Ground’ by Rimar. Still a yes.
‘The Difference of Ebitsuka’ by 403architecture. Japanese architects have turned the floor of this refurbished apartment in Hamamatsu into a huge chest of drawers. The highly industrial feel is counter-balanced by the soft white suspended curtains.
From the architects: ” During construction, we discovered this amazing underfloor space and we decided to use it…. We used the empty space to generate a new lifestyle. We want to use architectural improvisation as a trigger to a more imaginative life. “

‘Fortress of Franzensfeste’ by Markus Scherer + Walter Dietl. A renovated fortress in northern Italy that was refurbished to host regional exhibitions. Originally constructed in the 19th century by an Italian family has since then been used as a gunpowder depot, army territory and most recently host to the ‘08 European contemporary art biennale. It now features bridges, underground tunnels, concrete towers, and restored vaults as exhibition rooms with newly exposed brick arches and steel staircases. Incredible project - the name is even beautiful!

‘Public Promenade’ by 3S Studio. A former railway tunnel that connects two northern Italian towns has been converted to an enclosed pedestrian passageway. So perfect.
